Raul Rodriguez Ferrandiz

Professor of Communications, Universidad de Alicante

Full Professor at the University of Alicante, where I teach Media Semiotics in the Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising and PR, and Transmedia Storytelling in the Master’s Degree in Communication and Creative Industries.

My publications include Disinformation and Power: Alchemies of Persuasion (Alfons el Magnànim Essay Prize, published in Catalan in 2023 and in Spanish in 2024 as part of the Aldea Global collection), Magics of Fiction (Spoiler Warning) (2020, Miguel de Unamuno Essay Prize), Masks of Lies: The New Disorder of Post-Truth (2018, Ciutat de València Essay Prize), and The Venal Muse: Production and Consumption of Industrial Culture (2010, Miguel Espinosa Essay Prize). I coordinated the edited volume The Controversy over Mass Culture in the Interwar Period (University of Valencia, 2012).

I was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Bologna in 2000 and have conducted teaching visits at the University of Florence (2003), University of Buenos Aires (2011), ORT University in Montevideo (2015), Glasgow Caledonian University (2020), and Paris-Nanterre University (2024).

Since 2021, IFoto_FUNGLODE.jpg have collaborated with the Audiovisual Culture and Media Literacy Chair, supported by Spain’s public radio and television corporation (RTVE) and Universitat Jaume I in Castellón, contributing to the educational video series Media Education for Critical Citizenship. I currently participate in two research projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation and the European Union: one focused on the early detection of disinformation and toxicity in digital media (2022–2025) and another exploring testimonial narratives through photography in the era of digital media and AI (2025–2028).
